I've tried off and on to teach coin toss how 3rd grade fractions work for perhaps 15 years or more, but the concept is apparently too difficult. I even tried suggesting considering what would happen if you split the Mega/Power ball choices into odd and even sets and bought one ticket with an even ball and one with and odd ball, thinking it was so simple that a 6 year old could understand it, but appar... That does not work. The lottery odds are based on possible combinations. One set of numbers means you have covered one combination out of 292.2 million. A second set of numbers ( two tickets with one set of numbers each) each set being up against the same 292.2 million odds. There is NO WAY an additional ticket magically eliminates over half of the rest of the combinations. Were done, bye.

No, it is true that you are guaranteed a multiplier of at least 10x on the second prize if you buy 5 tickets with the same five white ball numbers. This doesn't guaranteed you will win it but rather guarantee the amount.

You are also going to have a 1 in 58 million chance to win the jackpot with those 5 tickets that have 5 different megaballs.

The multiplier on the 3rd and lower prizes will vary since they are a combination of white balls and megaball match/no match.

You can make it a 10x by buying tickets until the sum total of multipliers gets to 10 (e.g. first ticket is a 2x, then a 3x, then a 2x, then a 3x = total 10x). Maximum number of tickets would be 5 if all of them are 2x.

That way when you get all 5 but not the megaball, you'll win $10 million and Coin Toss will say I bet he's glad he sprang for the extra $20 . LOL
