I think it goes without saying, a Lot has changed with PLC's since the 1990's. Drawings seem more sophisticated these days. More RNG's involved, less human intervention needed to save in total costs involved in drawing operations.

Now that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is on the mainstream, it wouldn't surprise me if at some point lottery officials cut more jobs and let AI have a more part in how the drawings are conducted.

From some of the things I've read in the Lottery Master Guide book (LMG) authored by the late Gail Howard, on page 8 in the LMG it says:

How Jackpots Are Built

Lottery Officials Love when a Jackpot Rolls Over.

Because it increases lottery ticket sales for the next drawing. And it brings in more revenue for the State.

Your 7:08 PM terminal story is interesting that kind of timing glitch happens, and it does make you wonder. The 21-minute window before results post is something more people should pay attention to.

Why would they want a jackpot to roll without a winner? Just for fun? They're salaried employees so there's no financial incentive. If they're going to cheat, they'll do it Eddie Tipton style and buy tickets with numbers the rigged RNG will pick. Trying to game the thing not to pick someone else's numbers is more complicated.

I agree somewhat to disagree in regards to the RNG Draw Games.

I agree that the MI Lottery needs to cover operations for security reasons.

First of all in my opinion, what I had brought up has nothing to do with Pick 3 or Pick 4 games. Those games are televised every day. RNG Pick 5 and Pick 6 games are not.

The rules again simply state... the Lottery Officials (LO's) can eliminate a certain number or a combination of numbers at any time, without notice.... [ More ]

Great questions, and I appreciate you digging into the actual game rules. Most people never bother reading those.

I've looked into both of those sections before, so here's my take.

The certain information is not available to the general public language in the Ineligibility section is standard legal boilerplate. Every state lottery has something similar. The rules they have are CYA. It's very common and doesn't mean they're trying to cheat you.

Ineligibility. Officers and employees of the Michigan Lottery, as well as any spouse, child, brother, sister, or parent residing as a member of the same household, are ineligible. I follow the Michigan Draw Games to some extent.

Something recently peaked my interest from the MI Lottery website.

If you go to the website, click on the word Payout in some of the Draw Games, such as Fantasy 5, Lotto 47... and scroll down to the Game Rules.

Towards the end of the Game Rules paragraph that says Ineligibility, the Rules state...

I track Michigan Fantasy 5 and Lotto 47 pretty closely and wanted to share what's happening this week. Two very different stories playing out.

FANTASY 5 (7 draws this period)

The average sum jumped +18.4 vs the previous period (now 109.3, up from 90.9). That's a significant shift toward higher numbers getting drawn.

Hottest numbers right now:

29 3 appearances (rising)

35 3 appearances (rising)

4, 12, 23, 25 2 appearances each
