That could be true, but when the game was Lucky for Life and Cash 4 Life, we had at least frequent 2nd prize winners.

Given the odds of the game, I will continue to give it a try, at least every Sunday and when I opt not to play MM, I can substitute that with MFL.

It might have something to do with the fact that 3 of the states that win the other 2 jackpot games don't have Millionaire for Life. Florida, Texas, and California. So there are probably a lot fewer tickets being sold.

it took one million runs to converge to to 63.2041%. So it converges a bit more slowly than I anticipated.

On one hand 1 million iterations is a lot, but OTOH it's still only one run at it and probability means it might not be all that close to what you expect. If you do it again perhaps it will be closer. Or off in the other direction, making the two runs average put closer. Chance of drawing the ace of spades when choosing 1 card from a freshly shuffled deck 52 times: 63.21%. Chance of winning P3 if you play it 1000 individual times: 63.21% .

As a player should the focus be on the odds of winning or how often people are winning regardless?

How often (other) people win matters in two ways. If somebody else wins the same drawing you do you only get your share of the jackpot. If anybody won recently the jackpot is less than it is when nobody has won for a longer period of time. I can hope to reduce my chances of sharing a jackpot by choosing a combination I think most players wouldn't choose (and I'd prefer that there was no QP opt... [ More ]

In that case, I think you will like this. Just for fun, I downloaded all the Millionaire for Life draw results to see if anything funny jumped out at me.

Then I noticed something very peculiar (well, two very peculiar somethings) about the 3/15 - 3/18 draws.

Very probably, but when random numbers are involved, you can never rule out random streaks of losing and winning.

Am I looking at the games wrongly? As a player should the focus be on the odds of winning or how often people are winning regardless?

Look at it this way - If somebody else wins the jackpot, are they going to send you a check? If not, you should focus on the odds of you winning.... [ More ]

From 2/22 when the new MFL game launched, Both the Powerball and Mega Millions jackpots have been won twice - each.

We have also had numerous 2nd prize winners for both of the above games.

We are yet to have a jackpot or even a 2nd prize winner with MFL. On 4/22 it will be two months since the game launched.

Does it mean we have fewer people playing MFL in the 31 states where it's available?

The odds of winning are way lower than for both PB and MM, but yet they keep on producing... [ More ]
