Used to play Pick 3 almost every day for years. Once in a great while I added Pick 4, scratchers, MM, PB. If I played one draw my limit was $20 for the day. If I played both draws $35 for the day. Usually I just played one draw. Everyone knows how much they win, but do you know how much you actually spend? Last year I spent $550. This year I'm on track to spend $360, $30/month. Not trying to brag.

That is very commendable, not that you are on track to spend less this year, but that you are in control of whatever you are spending.

There are times, very few times, when I go in the store with the plan to buy one PB ticket but because the jackpot is over 1B end up buying 3 tickets. In those times I let the jackpot control my decision.

I agree. The one live drawing I watched was when I first joined lp and it was that crazy drawing with the woman claiming she hid the ticket at McDonald's.

Funny thing, I have never watched a live drawing.

I have also never watched a full recorded drawing where all numbers get drawn, it's always those short clips on news stories where they play a short piece of the draw.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with watching the live draws, it's just something that I have never thought of doing

i am afraid of getting a paper cut from printed tickets. and sometimes the paper is really hot coming out of the machine so you could get a little burn with your cut.

This is an interesting topic but are these phobias or superstitions? I have several. Although what is a practice or superstition for some could be a phobia for others in rare cases. A phobia has to interfere with your daily life. If one believes they have to spend $50 every day and with financial issues, that is an addiction.

1. Never buy mistake tickets. A mistake for someone else is not a win for me.

I'm not sure you know what a phobia is. People not wanting to buy more expensive tickets is usually based on the rational thought that should tell people that they'll probably lose, and that even small risks should be balanced against the (chance of) reward.

FOMO... fear of missing out. This is someone who has a set of lucky numbers they play for years, fearing the draw they skip will be the time it comes up. It is exactly the same thing that scammers use, along with FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) to manipulate stock and crypto markets.

Lottery phobias are real

Fear of checking the ticket: What if I actually win and ruin my peaceful, broke routine? Fear of winning: suddenly you need a lawyer, an accountant, and a new personality. Fear of losing: again and again and again. Fear of telling people: because congratulations quickly turns into can you lend me ? Fear of not playing: because this is definitely the draw you miss.

Conclusion: the only safe move is to panic either way
