After I take a picture of my winning ticket with my ID next to it

then I'll try to get some sleep

that way I can make decisions as a well rested person

I agree with givefive

nowadays. It's not a good idea to sign a ticket immediately

however I would suggest taking a picture of the ticket with your ID next to it might be an idea you'd consider

Used to be signing the ticket right away was a very good idea.

No more. Lawyers now say if you have them claim the ticket for you so that you can remain anonymous, and you want to claim it in a trust, now you have a problem. That's because your name will very likely be different than the name you chose for your your trust. The Lottery in your state will most likely allow only ONE name on the back of the ticket.

If I stayed up, checked the ticket and found out I was the lone/shared winner, then it would go immediately into my secured location, until I could get to my financial institution to obtain a SDB. Conduct some general number doodling on paper to consider taxes, distribution etc. etc. Plan on how I would show the Mrs the ticket in the AM. Take the next day off from any activities/work to get caught up on sleep. Got have options to adjust from the euphoria.

I normally don't check my ticket/s till I get up and had light breakfast

but I'd probably take a short drive to someplace quiet decide on whar to start and what needs attention first

Here's what you don't do with it:

A few years ago Connecticut held it's million dollar raffle. The drawing was in July but no winner surfaced until The Fall. The state of Connecticut ran several ads in the media stating the ticket had not been claimed and it's expiration date.

I will do a dance, a chicken dance, a silly dance, a winners dance, whatever that would be, I know for sure that I would dance.

Fun Fact: I never look at my tickets in the evening after the draw. I love my sweet sleep and would not want to stay awake all night if I happen to have a winning ticket. I typically check them mid morning next day.

Find a good place to hide it.

Used to a safe deposit box was a good place to stash a big winning ticket. Try to rent one these days and see what happens.

Banks are exiting that business and the boxes they do have are already rented. G5
