Dear Todd- I know what you're talking about. The Mass. Lottery website gives the Cash Option AND annuity jackpot for The Big Game, but nowhere is there a mention of Megabucks and/or Mass Millions winners receiving a lump sum or being allowed to choose cash. Here in NY, Lotto (actually a poor bet because of the 40% prize return) players still must choose when they bet, at the store or by subscription. I have yet to hear of a NY Lotto winner receiving a lump sum despite a 26 Annual Payments tick... [ More ]

Patrick,I had read somewhere that there is a federal law that requires all state lotteries to allow jackpot winners to take a lump-sum cash option, as long as they decide to do that within 60 days of the drawing.-Todd

Dear Mike: Massachusetts DOES NOT offer a cash option in either Mass Millions or Megabucks (although there is a cash option for The Big Game in all seven states) Therefore, Mass Millions and Mass Megabucks should be boycotted until they allow lump-sum payments to jackpot winners. A good alternate is Connecticut Classic Lotto .

there is a megabucks in massachusetts but you have to play it yourself unless someone sends you a season ticket.It is only drawn on wednesdays and saturdays. mike

Sounds like a scam. Anything that arrives without your knowledge and/or requesting is suspect.

Has anyone heard of this lottery? I received a very official lottery ticket in the mail today, in an envelope with no return address and a Canadian post mark?!?!?!!? It was a winner, but I don't know if it is legitimate. help
