The thing to remember is that the annuity is the lump sum invested over 20-25 years (however long it is). If youhad the lump sum, you'd invest most of it yourself and make the same if not more - taking the lump sum just removes the state (and state corruption) from the process. I'd feel much better with the lump sum working for me from day one.

MegaGame is my #1 guess. My #2 is MegaMillions. (MI has a Michigan Millions which would be confusing.) Mega is bigger than Big ; keeping the Game part would be very logical.

You are so right with the events of 9/11 and the current situation in the middle east we are living in dangerous times and and most experts from what I can hear all agree that America will be hit again and very severely and we all should prepare ourselves, so those would be additional reasons that you mention to take the lump sum. Also we where discussing investments earlier and may I mention that gold would not be a bad investment and I think a very good one because it is international currency... [ More ]

Remember ENRON when you buy your lottery tickets. I also think (with total respect for the WTC/Pentagon/Flight 93 victims) the events of 9/11, and also the anthrax scare, might be two additional reasons to choose lump sum.

Hey everyone I just came up with probably the best reason to choose the cash/lump sum options and that is dealing with people aint worht a damn these days. I recently made a purchase online from a major retailer and called customer service to check on the status of the order and know one knew anything and had very bad attitudes and afterwards decided that maybe this was a hint that if I was to win that the cash/lump sum might not be a bad thing after all. I can just imagine dealing with people l... [ More ]
