In Ohio, you can pay Federal taxes from any state, but for state taxes, Ohio recognizes that you pay the state where you earned the money, but if Ohio's state taxes is higher, you pay the different to the State of Ohio. I assume other states have a similiar rule.RJOh

The federal withholding was lowered to 27.5% July 1, 2001 and became the current 27% January 1. I'm not sure what NH would do for out-of-state residents (same for Powerball.) Hopefully they'll deduct only the 27%. You would still have to pay MA state tax, I presume. Maybe you should move to the Granite State

Correct me if I'm wrong but also..Let's say I win the new Hot Lotto jackpot (a game in NH) I'm a MA resident. I bought the ticket and obviously would have to claim the ticket in NH, and I assume that they'll take the 28 % federal tax right off the bat, but won't they send a W2 (or something like that) to MA so that they know that they'll tax me for my winnings? What I'm trying to get at here is, it's not so much where you play, but rather where you're living when you win.. no... [ More ]
