That's not according to the survey they ran on the MUSL website a month or two ago. They were gathering data on how people would react to a $2/play game with the same odds. Essentially doubling the odds per $1.

They did a survey about 2 months ago on Powerball.com asking people what they thought about increasing the prize amounts paid by 2x while increasing the pay/per/play to $2. My first thoughts were very very negetive. I almost e-mailed them. Then I rethought it and can see their logic in it. But they may have complete changed their $2x plan for the reason you stated. My understanding is that it will remain $1 per game, as lotto players are used to playing in $1 units (PLAYER: Five Powerball quick-picks please. AGENT: Ten dollars!) They'll simply add balls.
