According to the story, only a few states offer a cash option. These days ALL jackpot games in the US allow players to collect in lump sum except the 6/42 and 6/49 games in Massachusetts.

Regarding rule 4. I spoke to IRS today and they said I didnt need a FEIN. They said to file a Form 5754 and W-2G for a lottery pool. You can visit their website at www.IRS.GOV - I checked this out because I am preparing to hit the BIG GAME MEGAMILLON JACKPOT shortly. Ha Ha.

Very enlightening article. I started a pool of 20 players and wasn't aware of the Federal Employer ID Form SS-4. I will be sure to order it from IRS because I sure don't want them kind of problems when we hit the Jackpot. I pretty much got the other things covered. Thanks - good info.

One of the point in your mail says that the US citizenship status could affect your lottery winnings. How could it be? If a non-US citizen wins a jackpot, can't he be entitled to get his jackpot money
