Here in New York, the 5/39 TAKE FIVE also has a 2-number prize of an automatic quick-pick. Giving quick-pick free plays is something I generally don't object to. (When you have to PAY to play, certainly you should be able to pick all your numbers.) However, there have been problems with the NY Lotto, including the current I Love NY scratch game. Matching 3 LOTTO symbols wins a Lotto free play that automatically says 26 ANNUAL PAYMENTS ! In April, a 59-year-old retired man hit Lotto this way... [ More ]

Last month to promote Buckeye5, Ohio give a free QP ticket with each purchase of $5 or more ticket, I didn't win anything with the QP tickets but I liked the idea. Since I never won over $10 with my own numbers, I doubt if I would have done better had I picked my own numbers.RJOh

The Florida 5/36 Fantasy Five rewards 2 numbers correct with a free ticket, but won't let you pick your own numbers, it must be a quick pick. They claim it is to keep down costs and per player time at the lottery location, but I think it's to keep the ticket from doing you any good, especially if a good wheel gives you a boat load of them for the next draw.

I tried to mention in my previous reply why I think PA designed Super-6 Lotto the way they did. Fortunately, the Keystone State is about to join Powerball. In addition to bigger Powerball rollovers, Super-6 Lotto sales will immediately drop. I still strongly believe that Super-6 needs to be canned in favor of the new MUSL game Hot Lotto .

The only US jackpot game where players CANNOT choose all their numbers whenever they play is Pennsylvania Super-6 Lotto . This game began in 1998, long before PA was allowed to join a multi-state game. I suppose the automatic quick-picks (players can choose only 1/3 of their numbers) and the 1-in-40 million jackpot odds were a desperate attempt by PA to create a $100 million jackpot like in 1989 with the old Super-7 . On-line jackpot games need to avoid automatic quick-picks other than for fre... [ More ]

What's the reasoning behind some states NOT allowing players to pick all of their numbers? I have some theories, but I'm probably wrong.
