You got that right! The old name Colorado Rockies was much better, but you snooze, you lose and 'Rockies' got picked up by another sports team. I like the logo, though.

OK, so they've won two of the last seven Stanley Cups, but, IMHO, Avalanche is the UGLIEST team nickname in the four major North American sports leagues (NHL, NFL, NBA, MLB).

Theoretically they would pay less. Failing any state legislation specifically covering non-resident winfall taxes, taxes are paid to the country of residence under their laws. If you were Canadian, Lottery winnings are non-taxable in Canada, so you would pay NO tax on the winnings :-)There used to be a federal 'non-resident witholding tax' that scooped up 40% of any earnings made by an alien AND leaving the country, but the pro sports crowd killed that one. All I know is that 30% tax is withheld if you don't have a social security number. If you do then it's 27% (which is what's withheld for us Americans).Now as for your actual tax, etc.. I can't really tell you since I'm not familiar with how the IRS treats non-Americans. Best to consult a tax lawyer here.

Does any body know how much tax an alien has to pay if they hits a lottery? Do they have to pay more than what an american citizen pay normally? Thanks in advance for any information on this subject.....
