savant, first of all thank's for replying. thomas covenant answered the one question you had about a two ball payout. since i am mathematically challenged , you lost me a bit with your proposed calculation procedure. since i am a get down to business type of guy we will simplify all this so evryone in here can understand (including me - lol). my contention has always been that no one can predict the outcome of the lottery. not mathematical wise, with the help of software and you can fill in t... [ More ]

Sorry I jumped to the conclusions that you could pick a combination of six and if 2 or 3 of your six numbers matched, you won. Actually you can only pick combinations of 2's or 3's which change the odds completely. For example to match 3 of 42 with a combination of 3 the odds would be 1:11480 which is 10 times harder to match than a pick3 drawing for about the same payout.RJOh

From the website in question.Pick 3 numbers from 1 to 42 and you will win EUR411 on a EUR1 bet if all 3 numbers appear in the first 6 numbers of the published results of your selected Colorado lottery draw. That is about $402 US dollars

I don't think this would work. It is possible to work out the path the balls would take using chaos theory but you would need a very controlled enviroment. The placement of the balls in the machine would have to be exact each time. The release of the balls would have to be timed with the position of the paddles each time, etc. This has been done before.

Your odds of matching 2 numbers in a 6/42 drawing is 1:6. Who would dumb enough to pay $40 on a $1 bet with those odds. In the Ohio's Buckeye5 which is a 5/37 lottery, the odds of matching 2 is 1:9 and that pays $1. If you do find a lottery that pay $40 on those kinds of odds, let us all know so we all can make some money before they go broke.RJOh

Hey Visiondude...sorry for being M.I.A. I have been just so busy with work, I only have time to look the lottery over on the weekends and that too if my boss lets me off easy. I have decided that I have 2 options with regard to approching this 'problem' as a sort of side experiment.(1) To go the way of analysis and work on the established Physical theory of Chaos and Randomization, which basically states that nothing is ever random. This would mean a dreadfully LARGE amount of input and work for... [ More ]
