Since the game was changed in October, the rule(s) in force Sept 14, 2002 apply should the prize never be claimed. The rules Todd posted above apparently are the procedure should the 9/14/2002 ticket expire, and not the current regulations.

Whoever this person is, if he hasn't claimed it yet, chances are that he just LOST the ticket and doesn't want anyone to know that he had it.

I would be interested to see that in writing somewhere - and it would be better if true. My info came off the PB website this morning.

Todd: I hate to correct you, but, AFAIK the rule for unclaimed Powerball jackpots was changed effective with the current vesion of PB (also incluses second prize money in excess of $100k or its multiple if PowerPlay was chosen) so that the jackpot money is given back to all the MUSL members, with each member receiving approximately what they contributed to the jackpot pool through sales. From the Powerbal Rules:If a prize is not claimed, then each lottery will treat that money in accordance with their state law or rules. Some lotteries are required to return the money to the players as prizes (you may have seen such things as a special second-chance drawing, etc.). The second winner of Powerball for 9/14 has not yet come forward to claim the prize. Is it possible that the winner does not know he won? What happens if no one claims? What will they do with the money? Will it go to the pool?I am just trying to imagine some poor guy put his clothes in the washing machine with 50 million ticket in the pocket...
