CASH,You are right that slots and Keno are controversial. But even in conservative PA, I have a feeling they will get passed under this adminstration. Even though the State House and Senate are Republican the states' budget deficit is growing. And more and more states are turning to gambling to cover their budget deficits.Personally I'd love to see PA get slots, Keno, a new PA lottery game, and riverboat gambling. GREG: Keno games usually have 80 numbers, so IMHO it's not the number field that hurts Super-6. Many players like to choose ALL their numbers, which you _cannot_ do in Super-6. PA (thanks to Gov Rendell) has a new lottery director, and most likely he will push for a game to replace Super-6 fairly soon.

Hi everybody,The reason the PA 6/69 game is so awful is because there are 69 numbers in the number field! Therefore, it is more likely for the State to profit from this since the odds are astronomical.A 6/49 game, on the other hand, presents much better odds. Boycott the 6/69 game. It has at least 20 more numbers in it than it really needs. I live on the PA/NJ border so I usually play the NJ 6/49. smd: Racetrack slots/VLTs would bring in a ton of money. However, they are VERY controversial; plus, PA is arguably the most conservative of the northeast states. (Keno every 4-5 minutes also has opposition.) It would be much safer politically to replace Super-6 with Hot Lotto or a WINFALL.

Actually Rendell's next order of business will be getting slot machines in the race tracks. We can certainly try writing to Rendell about it, but we should try the new PA Lottery director too after he's had a week or so to settle in.

I remember Pick-A-State when I used to make occasional drives to Matamoros, PA (I-84) to buy PA tickets (not since February 1999.) If they were allowed to continue, Pick-A-State probably wouldn't do much business now except for the California, Florida, and Texas games. Besides, if you wanted CA or TX, would they have gotten you Cash Value tickets if you requested (since CA and TX still require the choice when you play)? Cash: PA had to join Powerball or Mega millions. To many people played Powerball in other states. Yes tomorrow they have midday draws, but only because of what other states have done. They can't come up with any knew and exciting games. I compared them to New Jersey and have always liked their games better. They should bring back Pick A State.

Run: Actually, PA started improving things when they joined Powerball last year (which makes Super-6 even more absurd.) Midday 3/4 draws start tomorrow (which could have been put off in favor of a Super-6 replacement). I must disagree with you on better out-of-state prizes: NY Lotto 6/59 returns _only_ 40%. I should know; I live in NY state.

Super 6 should have be axed long ago. Pa. is slow on anything new on lotteries. Other states have better payouts and more exciting games. The new adminstration in HARRISBURG better wake up or their lottery revenues are going to keep going down.

RJ: Super-6 has always been a controversial game because players cannot choose all their numbers. The jackpot odds are 1 in ~40 million. There's no need for PA to keep that game going.

smd: I've been e-mailing PA periodically since June, if not farther back, about replacing Super-6. Maybe you/we should e-mail Gov Rendell. At least he is pro-lottery. A new game SHOULD allow players to choose all their numbers, and have a cash value of more than 50% of the jackpot if the annuity is no more than 26 payments.
