I talked to a couple gas station clerks last night after I bought some Powerball tickets, and from what I heard, they have to go somewhere else to buy tickets. If they buy tickets at the same place where they work during their shift, then the tickets belong to the owner. So if you work at any gas station or store where lottery tickets are sold, BUY YOUR TICKETS SOMEWHERE ELSE. I work at Super Target, but they don't sell lotto tickets anyway, so I have nothing to worry about. But I usually g... [ More ]

Lottery tickets are like bearer bonds, unless a name is written on the back of them, they belong to the person who has them in hand, regardless of who purchases them. When I go to Indiana to purchases powerball tickets, I sometime pick up a few for friends, but I have no claims to the tickets winnings once I have given them the tickets even if I payed for them. That is the reason all state lotteries suggest signing your tickets on the back to prove owership. I'm not familiar with S.D. case b... [ More ]

I always ask for a receipt to prove that I bought it. Ever since college, whenever I bought something important, I asked for a receipt. I read the story about a woman who won the lottery in South Dakota (it wasn't Powerball but a different lottery game in SD) who worked at the front counter of a gas station and she took the ticket that was refused by a customer to claim the prize after discovering that it was a winning ticket. But the owners of the gas station threatened to sue, so she gave the... [ More ]

Why exactly do you ask for a receipt? If you are saving them for tax purposes, I thought you just had to keep a running list of the date, place purchased, and amount spent, plus won/lost.Also, I don't believe there are any states that would consider a receipt to be enough to claim a winning ticket.Maybe getting the receipt is just a superstitious thing? If so, does it work for you

5 tickets using my Lucky Numbers. I will use each one as the powerball:(I picked 04 and 07, because my birthday is April 7th.I picked 11, because if you add my first two numbers, 4 + 7, you get 11, and eleven rhymes with seven.I picked 24, because I graduated from high school in 1995 and if you add those four digits, 1 + 9 + 9 + 5, you get 24. (Also, I was born in the year 1977, and if you add those four digits together, 1 + 9 + 7 + 7, you get 24 anyway.) I picked 28, because I graduated from
