Years ago on one of the bigger jackpots in Ca; we had a lottery pool. 20 people at $5 a person. I think once we got $10. Sometimes there was nothing. Disappointing, that many quick picks and no payout.

i concede...more people buy qp...but we were talking about qp versus personal picks...the results are clear...personal picks win...and they win with a lower number of tickets purchased...

Because it doesn't show how many quick picks were purchased. The percentage of quick picks purchased compared to the percentage of quick picks wins should be the same. It's the same in the Powerball and mega millions games. >When the jackpot rises, the number of people using quick pick and the percentage of winners using quick pick goes up to 60-65 percent.

The Florida Data is correct Thomas I read it myself so your stats may be correct in Powerball according to your sources but not for Florida.More winners in Florida are from self-chosen numbers not quick-picks.

230 quick picks + 190 self picks = 420. What were the other 56 picks?If you read my quotes it does say that the percentages varies. >PAUL: It pretty much depends on how people play. In Lotto Texas:476 winning tickets as of 7/17/03:230 were Quick Pick 190 were self pickwhen you remember that some of the jackpots were shared among more than one winner, the results are even more favorable to the self pick player

Hey gang:I just wanted to put my two cents worth in on this topic. I think and always will, that if you use QP and win a Lottery, it's dumb luck. On the other hand, if you have a system that you're working with like I do, I think the chances of my winning come more quickly than using QP's. I always pick my numbers for two reasons. I always get one right, sometimes more. I do extremely well on Cash 5 and Pick 3 because I chart like crazy as a hobby. i have a front loading dryer and tend to think it would mix them quite well, but, putting the 53 Ping-Pong balls through a complete wash/rinse cycle might also produce a winning set of numbers. don't forget to add detergent as the soap suds might be that critical 'extra variable' that determines the winning set ...and never peek into the machine as you draw the numbers. we must keep them totally random :)so, at the news conference, when asked by the State Lottery official how i picked my winnin... I read somewhere that the question was asked why do most winners generally come from the same state or area most of the time. the answer was that it goes by where it is mostly populatedlike maybe calif would get more qp because higher in population?just a thought.have not researched where all the winners are from/but maybe winners are comming more from same area.luckycat

I like the qp but I do occassionally like to figure out what will play. The very first lottery program I had (just a $10 program from K-Mart ) got me four numbers on the lottery. If they had not changed our game I might have hit all the numbers. I still don't like the new one. It is too hard to win anything. Guess that is why they changed it. lol Lottopro is worthless on it . Interesting that the Missouri half of the Powerball jackpot was a QP (guick pick) or whatever they call a computer pick in Missouri. The Wednesday NY Lottery jackpot was a QP. Which leads me to wonder why people pull out their hair trying to figure out what numbers to play. I usually play two picks with my numbers and all the rest are QP'S and generally I win with them, asthe QP'S.
