The PowerBall tickets I bought in Indiana last month for DEC31/03 drawing had these numbers.3040932507970406 (the last 10 digits were different for every ticket)765472 (I think this is the store number because it was on every ticket)00149 (I think this the serial number because the next one was 00150)If the time and date is in those numbers, I can't see it.RJOh

Years ago when I serve in the military, Julian dates and other numbers were used on purchase orders not to confuse anyone, but because it was a compact code that could contain more information in 10 characters than could be if it was written in a conventional way. I assume those codes contain more information than just the date and take less computer space to store.RJOh

why isnt it where you can read it plainly without decoding it? i got this same problem with my customers complaining that they couldnt understand the expiration date on some products lots of them and so i had to force the merchants to show me how to decode the dates by threatening to lower my buy from them. and they would show me the codes . so, what im saying is why would they hide the time from us, the same way drink bottlers hide their expiration dates? the bottlers dont wish for you to kn... [ More ]

I think this has been asked several times in the forums. I purchased a lottery ticket this morning and both the time and the date was printed on the upper right hand corner. It was a powerball ticket, in South Carolina.
