I got a question and this seems the perfect thread to ask it in - what effect does the balls moving at the time of the draw have on them being chosen? I know a lot of people argue that every ball has the same chance of being drawn, but it seems to me there's a chance a pattern could develop because they could drop and start moving in the same sequence. I watch the games every day unless I am not where there is a television.I like to see the machines in action sometimes I get a big thrill when they pull the first number and it's mine the excitement builds as they draw the next ball and it's is also mine and by the time the third and or fourth ball is drawn and they are the numbers I selected I almost have a mini heart attack as my heart is beating so fast. Goose people like to see the balls drop in the machines because it is the most secure type of lottery many people are involved in the process and security personnel are involved in every aspect of the game. You should know without asking that a computerized game is not as popular as ping pong ball machines. There is no fun in watching a computer pick a random number unless of course that number is your pick.

Goose:My point is that a lottery drawing which utilizes a computerized electronic random number generator is subject to fraud and manipulation to a much greater degree than one using ping-pong balls. To me it sounds like Jim is telling you people prefer a process they can not only keep an eye on, but that isn't open to cheating by programmer, lottery employee or hacker.Some people believe a crooked game is fair if you aren't the one being cheated, who cares if the horse race is fixed if you bet on the winner.Would you play a video dice game where the probability of certain combinations being drawn were found to be off? Hmm... My fault; I thought I'd mentioned this. Indiana uses just such a computer to draw the numbers for all their online games.Most people here believe there's really no difference between numbers drawn with ping-pong balls and those drawn using an RNG. I think that's because most people here live in states that still use ping-pong balls to draw their numbers, and also because they believe people who live in states that use RNG's are paranoid or are ineffectual at selecting their numbers. This would be a prime example for inclusion; a simple program that simulated a physical process such as tossing a coin. I don't know how many throws would be required to convince some?RegardsColin F

(Go Google if you haven't read them!)I know that hypersoniq has said that Midday PA uses a computer to select the 3.In NY, we have this game that draws numbers something like every fifteen minutes. I've never played it, but I know it's computer-drawn too. It's in bars and some lottery outlets.I think *every* state would love to use computers because it'd increase their takes.

Even though machine drawings can be and have been rigged (the infamous 666 drawing!), by far the least trustworthy is the computer because it depends on an algorithm designed by people.
