I once heard or read (not sure where) that the state claims it cannot change 6/42 or 6/49 to cash option because offering a cash option to new winners is unfair to previous winners, and that to do so they would have to have a completely new game. This strikes me as a load of hooey, but who knows, maybe it is true. Has anyone heard that theory

Ohio has Super Lotto, a 649P game that's very similar and it hardly ever goes more than 10 draws without a winner and its jackpot never get that big and matching 5 pays less. I would think with one of the top five jackpots in the country, more people from out of state would be playing. RJOh

My guess is the jackpot will be still be available. If the $330,000 increase means that 660,000 tickets are sold and there are 13,983,816 possible combinations, then there are over 13,000,000 unchosen combinations per drawing. The good thing is if you win it, you will probably won't have to share it.

From a player's perspective, I see Mass Millions as 2 years of winning. Again, from a player's perspective, if I do not win the jackpot on any particular draw, then I am gald when I see that no one else won it either. This gives me another chance.Low ticket sales contributes to a higher expected value. In the case of Mass Millions, the expected value is much greater than 1. (Also because the jackpot is large in relation to the odds).A friend is travelling to Boston next month. I hope the jackpot... [ More ]

I won't miss Mass 6/49 and 6/42 either. The new game MUST offer a cash option.

I see the Mass Millions jackpot was last won 4/4/02. Nice to see they are coming up to the 2 year anniversary of losing, with the jackpot plodding upwards at about $330,000 a drawing, now at $49 mil. That's a lot of money, but there's no excitement, news or publicity - and no increase in sales. In fact, the jackpot increase is getting smaller even as the jackpot grows. lt increased $356,000 between drawings on a $9 million jackpot in Dec 2002. 200 drawings without a winner. It will be so nice... [ More ]
