LA,I agree with you. I am totally for 100% freedom on the Internet, and I see no reason that I can't gamble online. Why should I have to go to AC or LV to play blackjack? Why should I have to go to a store to play the lottery? It makes no sense to me. Besides, opening up online gambling would allow the government to make a LOT more money by regulating the industry -- which in turn would LOWER MY TAXES

Vince,Yes, I agree there are MANY reasons, including the ones you specified, why I think it will fail. The House of Representatives in any state, like in the US government, is usually the quickest to adopt off the wall laws. The Senate is usually the balancing factor, with much more considered opinions, which I believe it will be in this case. However, I disagree on the trust thing you mentioned: I trust the sites I link to on the left side of the page -- I use them almost every week.

It is currently against USPS regulations to allow the mailing of lottery tickets across state lines. This restricts states like VA, which offer a subscription play by mail option for their jackpot games, to only allowing those with in-state mailing addresses to play. I know that MA gets around this by sending out their tickets via UPS, which completely avoids the USPS problem. The only other optio... [ More ]

My weekly budget to play the lottery is around $20.00 a week and if I lose on all 3 counts I would owe you 3 weeks worth of lottery fun. LOL How does this look to you?$10 on whether or not it comes to a vote in the Senate in 2004$10 on whether it passes in the Senate in 2004$10 on whether or not it becomes law and goes online in 2005If you agree, we have a bet. Thanks, JohnLA

The first part amends ways to buy tickets - looks like it would make buying with credit card legal whether it was online or in person, and the second section amends how tickets could be bought... [ More ]

Well it looks like Georgia is getting serious about selling lottery tickets online.http://www.onlineathens.com/stories/030504/gen_lotto.shtmlI'm not so sure how good an idea this is security wise for players using credit cards the way the web is now. What could work would be if retailers could charge up cards like they do phone cards for people to use online, so you don't have to visit the store daily to play your numbers with gas going over $2.00 a gallon.
