DoctorEw220 you can buy lottery tickets with your credit card at most grocery stores people do it all the time. You take your groceries with you to the ticket window and buy tickets and the cashier puts the whole amount on your credit or debit card. i think that lotteries accepting credit cards is just like buying on the margin. you are taking out a loan on an investment, and if you put a lot into that investment, and it doesn't have a good return, how are you going to pay off the loan? if one can't pay off their credit card bills because of compulsive gambling, then what is the credit card company, as well as the lottery, to do? if lotteries start accepting credit cards, then we could have another great depression on our hands soon.... Ever consider Cash Withdrawal Fees which would be levied when paying for lottery tickets with a credit card?? They need to consider other alternatives for on line ticket sales.No to in person sales due to potential credit card fraud. Coose i have seen people buy 500 dollars worth of mega tickets for a pool and they were lucky they got $7.00 back in return. Buying a lot of tickets dosen't guarentee a return.

It would seem to me it would lead desperate people buried in credit card bills to go even deeper in the hole in hopes of hitting the jackpot and escaping their troubles. Now, I know a lot of people do that anyway, but let them do it with real money. I am for spending $5 to take a chance, but credit cards would lead people spending a lot more than $5. I am really only for credit cards being used to buy season tickets, which is less of a quick fix purchase.

As four4me pointed out, you can buy booze, babes and whatever with a credit card why not Lottery tickets. As for the $5 limit, what's to stop you from going to and ATM with the card and getting as much money as your daily limit allows and playing it all. Just as Prohibition didn't stop folks from drinking limiting the amount you can spend with a credit card won't keep folks from spending the amount they wish. I think that using a debit card is fine because the money comes straight from your checking account. I feel that CREDIT cards should not be allowed though.

Most establishments take credit cards for practically everything else. Lottery retailers might as well get in line. I don't think it will happen though. Could you imagine people getting tossed out in the street and going bankrupt because they borrowed money to play the games. I see no reason why one couldn't use their debit card. Using a credit card and having to pay interest and penalties would be a little backwards I think. Bad enough you have to put out actual cash. And a credit card lottery... [ More ]

I thought this was a timely poll given the current Georgia bill in their legislature. If you're not familiar with it, they want to allow among other things, buying lottery tickets in person with credit cards, but limited to $5 per day on the credit card. So do you think credit cards should be allowed and with or without limits, or not allowed at all. thanks -plnwebguy
