Mega Millions has white balls from 1 to 52 and MegaBall (same as PowerBall in Powerball ) 1 to 52. So as you can see there are more combinations to select from in Mega Millions and hence, the chances of winning it are supposedly worse.Oh yeah, Welcome to the LP.

The difference in odds is because of the unique number of combination available in each game.The Mega Millions game is a 5 choose 52 and 1 chose 52 game giving 135 million combinations.The Powerball game is a 5 choose 53 and 1 choose 42 game giving 120 million combinations.The odds of matching all 6 numbers is not based upon the number of poeple that play the game or the number of tickets sold. Welcome, Platinum298! I'm a PowerBall player for going on two years now. They don't have MegaMillions where I live so I don't have interest in knowing about its odds, I guess. I'm assuming the MegaMillions odds might be higher because more people play it? Don't know if it would have anything to do with their mathmatical differences (any corrections welcomed). Hey folks. I'm Todd from Ohio. Just discovered this forum recently and was delighted to see lottery enthusiasts other than myself. Been playing since I was in my late teens,I'm 26 now.
