I personally think it's strange that anyone who enjoys the lottery enough to participate here would be against giving fellow players more choices, but hey, maybe it's just me.I would very much like to have the Megaplier in New Jersey. ok. i know my opinion means about as much to you guys as winning $1 when you spend $10 on tickets, but here's why i will not sign the petition. states are trying to reduce compulsive gambling, and offering players a chance to multiply their winnings by paying an extra dollar per ticket is a step in the opposite direction. i know a few people who would buy 5 ,10, or 20 powerball tickets, and they would take powerplay. that came to upwards of $40. the night of the big $260 million jackpot, i w... Number 100, this sounds like a great idea should generate alot of interest here in NY. NY Lottery did have this similar setup for the 3/4 Digit games, for an extra buck the bet would generate another 3 or 4 digit number under the one you played. If you matched whatever number be it 1st position ; 2nd position etc.... you won a bonus prize. I am not sure if it is still around I did try it back when it started. gosh Todd I'm not complaining I'm for it signed yesterday but no matter what the cause you have to investigate every angle. What if, why not, suppose this happened. A few weeks ago 23 people had 5 white balls I think if my memory serves me and it gets worse with age. And the jackpot was only 10 mil they would have to pay out 16,100,000 million for a multiplier of 4 not to include the lesser prizes. Grant it they have probably have the funds. The only reasion i asked is because a 5 megaplier hit by a couple hundred people with 5 white balls could run into some big payouts. It could even be more money payed out to people than the jackpot was worth if even more people were to hit. I know the odds of it happening are against this happening but you never now. A set of numbers could hit that many people played. It would almost force them to split the jackpot up into smaller peices to pay everybody.

I don't know if the Mega Millions lottery directors will be changing the prize structure. They haven't given any hints to indicate that this would be happening.

With the Megaplier (and with Power Play in Powerball), your prize is multiplied if you pay an extra $1 per ticket. If you don't spend the extra $1 the game would operate exactly as it does today - no changes to the prizes.Therefore, the addition of the Megaplier doesn't affect anyone who doesn't want it. It only adds a new option for those who want to plunk down an extra dollar.
