Hello, this is my first time posting here, and I live in Clinton, IA, which is right next to the Mississsippi River and Illinois, so I play both Powerball and Mega Millions (though not at the same time; I'm currently playing Powerball -- I always play a lottery even if both jackpots are only at $10 million, and I buy two tickets per drawing if the jackpot is $100+ million). I do not play the PowerPlay option and would probably not play the Megaply option if Illinois added that feature, seeing t... [ More ]

According to the lottoreport(http://www.lottoreport.com/MegaplierSales.htm) since its inception, the Texas Megaplier has generated $23.2M in sales and paid out $9.5M in prizes, generating over $13M in profits for the state of Texas. I'm sure when the other states review these results, they will seriously consider adding the megaplier in the next changes to the game.RJOh

I agree it would be nice for all Mega Millions players to have the choice of playing the Megaplier if they choose. But personally, I play for the big prizes. So, if I was going to spend more $$$ I would buy more tickets (and therefore chances) at the jackpot.

Dr.EW: Correct. They want to change everything at once because changing things like betslips, hardware, and software can be very expensive. They want to minimize the number of times that they implement any changes.

i know how this is done. when SC joined powerball, they changed the matrix at the same time. when power play was introduced, they got new machines as well. if MM adopts the megaplier, they will probably change the matrix and add a new state at the same time. when NY and OH joined MM, they changed the name, and the matrix. they want to do as much as once as they can.

RJOh: Read below about the four times, which is posted on the petition site. I don't think it's deceptive at all.About UsMegaplier.com is an independent organization of Mega Millions multi-state lottery players dedicated helping the game become the best worldwide lottery game.We believe that the Mega Millions state lottery directors need to step up to the plate now, and add the most-requested feature: the Megaplier. So far, the [very smart] Texas Lottery is the only one of the eleven Mega Milli... [ More ]

The petition reads as follow:To the Mega Millions Lottery Directors:For years, Powerball players have been able to increase their prizes by up to five times with the Power Play feature. When Texas joined Mega Millions last year, they smartly added a Megaplier feature that works just like Power Play. But because none of the other ten Mega Millions states followed Texas' lead, only Texas players can Megaply their prizes. This gave me the impression that Texas's Megaplier worked just like Power Pl... [ More ]

With PowerBall odds of 1:2,939,677 of winning $100,000 and MegaMillions odds of 1:2,649,920 of winning $175,000, having a multiplier might not be as profitable for the MegaMillions game as the PowerBall game. I suspect most of the other states are watching Texas to see their results after a year. If Texas can show a nice profit after a year, I would think most of the other states will follow with some conditions or cap on the payout.RJOh
