RJoh,The cool thing about the Ca Fantasy 5 is that the pot does grow. Just Tuesday the estimated jackpot was $370,000. The other cool thing is that when it was all said and done, (and I bought my 2 dream tickets as well :), the winners, which were 2, walked away with $220,000 plus, (before taxes).I've seen the jackpot rise over $500,000 so the question that I first raised was assuming that the pot was big enough, along with residual tickets would it make sense.I really appreciate everyone inpu... [ More ]

Poet,I remembered that group being featured on the TV show How They Do That after they won. At the time the cash value of the jackpot was more than the odds of winning, so it was a good investment if they were the only winners. They managed to play 80% of the possible combinations by having exclusive use of several 7-11 stores terminals. Virgina changed their laws later to prdvent any one group of person having exclusive use of any terminals. As far I know any group or person can still buy

Thank you very much for the info. After some serching I did happen to find information on the Australin sydicate who won the lottery in Virginia. Turns out the State of Virgina called in the CIA, FBI and the IRS to investigate these people, namely Stefan Mandel, who headed the organization.Apparently there are no laws against pools, actually I've found that they are encouraged. Seems though, if your money is long enough, you and your group many run into trouble playing all combinations to a g... [ More ]

In 1992, an Australian consortium attempted to corner a $27 million Virginia Lotto jackpot and managed to buy 2.4 million of the 7.1 million possible combinations before time ran out. They didn't win.I believe an attempt was also made on the W.V. 6/25. Some states have changed rules to make this more difficult limiting the number of combinations that can be purchased at one visit and requiring hand marked play slips. The 5/39 game has jackpot odds of 1 in 575,757 which also means there are 575,7... [ More ]

This is my first post here and everyone seems so knowledgeable...and I have 2 questions.Does anyone have a link to the original story on that Virgina Investment Group that played all combos; and secondly, California's Fantasy 5 plays 1 thru 39 numbers. The total of possible combinations is 575,757. My question is: is there a program that will give the exact number of winning combos if all possible combinations are played? For instance...you automatically know that you will get the jackpot, b... [ More ]
