For the calendar year 2003, there were 104 chances to win the powerball jackpot. There were only eleven powerball jackpot winners for the year. Winning lottery jackpots through the application of knowledge is what drives me. Don't get me wrong, I still buy a QP just to include a little LUCK in the mix

I personally would prefer either one. To me 10 million is alot of money,I wouldn't go crazy buing alot of stuff,I could live very nicely off the interest of 10 million dollars, but i wouldnt turn down 145 million either,i could share it with my family and real friends. But honestly I am waiting for it to get really big,say over 350 million,i would love to see it go close to a billion dollars before someone wins,to see what everyone would do,and say about it. I would love to see all those people w... [ More ]

As long as I could win around 10 million after taxes then i am fine with that because I have a special foundation I have been dreaming of putting together for several years now....OR, I would even settle for five or six million after tax. I don't need much myself, I just want to secure my child's future. I recalled when this dj on a radio station in ny used to always talk about winning the lotto. His co-workers were like, WHATEVER! Well, one day he did not show up for work and the listeners be... [ More ]

There is a field of worthless advice based on casino games that is often told to lottery players they should wait until the prize exceeds the odds. This is based on buying a win which doesn't apply to lottery both because you can't (not really) and the size of the prize pays back all losses regardless of 10 million or 145 million. If I won more, I'd be able to give away more to good causes without feeling it. And no, lottery shouldn't be taxed because it is a tax. BobP

Who is Jack Whittaker?Goes to show you how informed I am.But truly, the masses that are running to the machines when the jackpot is large are not those select few you are talking about. For me, $1M would be plenty. I don't understand what goes on in those people's heads. As a matter of fact, I am for going in with 200 other people, buying 200 times as many tickets, increasing my odds of getting my $1M by a factor of 200, when the jackpot is large. $1M is enough to solve my problems.

The difference between the $10 million and the $145 million doesn't matter all that much for the ultra-small group of patient jackpot-only lottery players who's main goal in life and main reason for existing and constant thought from dawn to dusk is waiting for the precious moment when the moon and the stars are in perfect alignment and the time has arrived to complete their life's mission and unseat Jack Whittaker ...an old record is broken and a new one is set.

Yes, Virginia, some people are happy winning a $10 million dollar lottery. Now, fancy this: some people WILL NOT PLAY UNLESS THE LOTTERY IS AT LEAST $50 million or more. Talk about the lottery machine circuits exploding when there is a $100 million lottery, or heaven's forbid, a $200 million lottery. Everyone comes out of the woodwork including grandma, grandpa, great-grandma with a rocker or a cane and great-grandpa without his dentures, running through doors, leaping over tall buildings, and... [ More ]
