A couple people have mentioned that if they play doubles, they 'combo' the bet. I don't play doubles too often, but when I do, I play them that way too....it's the only way to go.It boils down to what your focus and success is on. If you get a lot of box hits then play box, if there's an even mix then play straight/box, and if you get more straights than boxes, bet straight.Personally, It'd bother me more to lose $250 than lose $40 (just because I bet it the wrong way); and I can double my be... i have learnt a lesson for eg last night because i want plenty money if the number comes i played it straight 291 the number came the other way 219 so i lost even though i had the number so box and str is the way i am doing it now.

It all depends on the numbers and what I think will play. Primarily I am a Straight Shooter as I've developed a way to eliminate certain digits in certain positions a lot of the times.When playing I might play a combination of ways such as $1.00 Straight on a combination that I think has a really high probability of hitting (might even play it more then once), 50 cent straight/combo on 3 digits I think will hit but want to cover all bases as Im dont feel confident about the straight, or 50 cen... In California we can not bet 50 cents, but when we play $1 straight/box, we are actually betting 50 cents on each. The problem in California is our payouts for a straight are often over $600. That means going to the Lotto office, filling out the paperwork, waiting for the check to come in the mail and having to prove to the IRS that you lost that much! I prefer playing str/box. I play straights only as well...because $ for $ straights produce a better peofit for me. Also I'm on a tight lottery budget so every bet counts and I'd rather get a chance for another straight for my .50 bet.Keep track on paper what profit you get from the box betting compared to straight betting over a peoid of time. Then adjust your betting strategy accordingly.

Straight only - I have a budget of $10.00 a day, so that give me 20 plays @.50 per ticket a day for a chance at a straight hit of 10 numbers for Midday and 10 for evening draws... When I play a double, I always wheel it (155-515-551

Straight only 98% of the time.I did play st/bx this afternoon on a new system I was trying with the picking of one digit to fall. I was looking for the 7 as the highest digit to fall. I played 10 combinations at mid-day with the 7 in them. The 734 st was one of them. The 790 hit. I was mad after playing 10 combinations for $10.00 so I did not replay any pick 3 this eve at all. Yep, the boxes minimize the damage until the straights hit. I started out on pick 3 playing .50 boxes so I could play more numbers cheaper and have a better chance at winning. After hitting two straights on box play (one of them a double) in the first two weeks, I quickly changed to straight/box play.

Last year I missed so many numbers playing straight only but also won some good money that way. This year I play all ways depending on the amount of money I have allotted. Mostly straight and box.

I've often wondered how many people here play straight only. Yeah, it pays more, but look at all the boxed hits you'll throw away. I mean, I look at S/B as a way to stay even until a nice hit comes along. I've never had the guts to go straight only unless I buy several ticket of the same number then occasionally I may throw a straight only in there, but it is very rare.Just curious to see how the majority plays their game.Thanks.Bryan :)P.S.
