When you are in the military you pay state taxes if any at your home of record from your military paycheck, as to the lottery, if I went to another state and bought a ticket and won, I am not in the military, but whatever rules, would then apply to me they also would apply to you, military or not, if I have to pay taxes on that other state, then you do too, if I don't then you don't either.

i hope alabama won't get anythig from it if i ever did win simply because thye have strp clubs sell beer on sundays and have dog tracks but they feel that since it is apart of the bible belt the lottery is immoral or some $h!+ like that that is a joke if you ask me

an issue like this goes back to a case in which a party from kentucky won a big jackpot in ohio, and then decided to move to florida. the ohio supreme court argued that they would owe taxes in ohio, and no other state because that was the state in which the ticket was purchased.

A pretty good rule of thumb is that your lottery prize would be taxed like regular income. So, you should take a look at how you're being tax in your paycheck, as well as what you have to file at the end of the year, and you'll probably need to do something similar if you win a large prize.
