either way, the 3-letter codes are not effective. every state should do what PA does. it's very easy to tell that way.

here's how i scratch off my tickets. obviously, if it's a match 3 like amounts, i scratch the whole area from top to bottom. if it's a game in which you do something to win the prize under it, i willscratch off the prize amounts first, and then i will scratch off the game parts from lowest to highest amount. the time wasters, i will scratch off from top to bottom, and then the monus box (if any). i will also look at the prizes offered on the back (if it says). what is bad is when i play a w... i know a few who will scratch off the whole ticket. the lotteries sell those types of games because they know people will play them just to pass the time. i have them figured out. if you haven't scratched off all the letters/numbers, and you are one away from winning something, you aren't going to win. the letter/number that wins it for you is usually the last one.

depending on how much free time i have, and the game, i will scratch-off only the part of the ticket that tells me if i won. for example, if i were to play a $2 bingo game in PA, and i had only 5 minutes, i may just scratch-off the area telling me if i won. if i were to play one of those number match games with 5 minutes left, i would scratch off the whole ticket.

Scratching that way would take the fun out of it for me - if I wanted to play that way then why not just have two spots on the ticket - one that either says you win or you lose (or sorry or try again ) and one that has the payoff?To each his own, though.....

I also love PA's method of showing winning scratch off tickets. I use that religiously. Sometimes, I won't even scratch the entire surface area, just the top and bottom portions to see if I won.

This is one thing I do not like about the Oho Lottery. They use three letters to tell you how much you have won, and unless it is a small amount, you will not know how much, if anything you have won. To make things worse, the three letters representing the amount changes with every game. What PA does, and I like this, is they use sets of parenthesis, with each digit having its own set of parenthesis. Which idea do you like better
