Many PC's need a certain amount of maintenance especially older models. If your using AOL optimized try PC checkup and see what the results are. This PC I'm using is a dinosaur compared to almost any off the shelf model and it works great since I packed it with all the things it can handle. I defrag the hard drive and clear the cache, history and aol's art files at least once a week. And do a disk clean up every day.

i always seem to have some kind of freeze up or slow thing happening a couple times a day and you'd think that paying almost thirty dollars a month that i'd at least get something with a little quality with aol but here soon i'm gonna look for something that runs a lot better for a lot less

I couldn't take the waiting anymore so I reactivated my old yahoo email address. I hope I don't have the same problems with the address as I had before. You'd think with all the money AOL makes and people they have working for them this problem would be fixed by now.

I have been through 4 dial-up ISPs, DSL at work, OC-12 at Lucent (hands down the best, the connection is faster than the PC! connected 2 plants for archiving terabytes of test and quality data, the regular connection to the net was a T-1, also choice!).I have Cable at home, Comcast @ 3 megs! Outside of the increase in pings to ports I shut down (like the old back orifice ports UDP 31337 31338) I have no complaints either. The good far outweighs the bad with cable. Come on man wasn't it you that posted about a week ago or so that some kind of Internet congestion cause problems with our access to your site. This has happened more than once. All Internet connections are not perfect and can and have been interrupted for more than one reason. Any cable system can be broken even satellite connection are disrupted. last night a guy took out a telephone pole and caused 1/2 million phone and cable lines to go down.No body more than me would like to see this proble... I have had almost an excellent experience with AOL as long as I keep the versions of AOL currant. Today's 9.0 optimized is nearly foolproof with features not available on other versions. This email problem we are experiencing might have something to do with AOL's crusade to rid the Internet of spam mail. Having been unpaid tech support for family and friends for over a decade now, I hate working on PC's with AOL... my worst combo is a Compaq (which no longer ships with recovery CDs) running AOL (and windowsME... what were they thinking?).they make it sound good when you first get into surfing the web... that is one thing AOL does to fight perverts that i like. they have cops using AOL/AOL Instant Messenger discuised as teen girls to try and get a pervert to lure them to meet them, and they also respond to complaints against users. for example, back in february, a 50 year-old lady tried to solicit sex from me online. i contacted AOL, and they traced her IP address to the address, contacted the authorities, and the lady is now getting the help she needs.

AOL IS GREAT , IF YOU'R A PEDOPHILE WHO'S LURKING ONLINE. www.costaricataboovacations.com uses AOL for their e-mail, and if you visit the site, it's pure heaven, if you'r a PEDOPHILE. I switched to www.copper.net; it's 1 dollar for the 1st 3 months, and it's also high speed. Nothing fancy; but at least im not supporting PEDOPHILES.

Todd i'm not addressing my post to you. I think all internet service providers have their problems. I know people who have all types of services. I belong to several probably way to many user groups from yahoo to timbucktwo. And each and every service provider has had some kind of kick back mailer problem. four4me: I am not ranting against AOL's services to its customers. In fact, I think they fit a nice market niche of people who are not techically savvy.Please see the distinction I am making: I am very upset at the way they treat Webmasters. There isn't one internet service provider that dosen't have problems from time to time. Get over it. They will have the problem fixed soon. With aol's new spam filters and such if they get to many rejected emails sent to a spam folder they automatically detect it as a nusance and eliminate it. Aolers can set their spam filters to allow or block certain senders make sure your spam controls are set to accept lotterypost. My colleagues and I would always joke about how AOL was not a real Internet Service Provider (ISP) beacause the service was just so bad. We would kid those who did have it by telling to get grown-up ISP and AOL just simply wasn't it. However, good luck to those of you who do enjoy using it. emilyg:although i respect your right to use AOL, i have several reasons for hating AOL. i will only list a few.-They will kick you off of any other IM program.- You don't get as many free hours as the CD says (KDKA in Pgh. did a report on it.)- They cook the books when it comes to accounting.- They want to be your default everything.- If you are under your AOL contract, and you get broadband service, AOL WILL make you switch your AOL service to AOL for broadband, which is not necessary for the... By the way, AOL users trying to sign up for membership (while this e-mail problem is happening), just use an alternative e-mail address, like yahoo or hotmail. Then create your Lottery Post account using that e-mail.Later, when the AOL problem is fixed, you can change the e-mail address on your Lottery Post account back to AOL.

emilyg,I definitely respect your enjoyment of AOL. Lots of people like it. My beef with them is that they make life for Webmasters (like me) a living hell.All I want to do is send you an e-mail (that you request) and they block it. And there's no easy way to get them to unblock it.
