what exactly is meant by forming a trust?
Good question. Trust for what? There are about 100 different types of trusts and most are for asset protection. The best contact would be an estate attorney who might also work with a financial planner. AFAIK only an attorney can set up a Trust. Since trusts are usually regulated by state law, the rules aren't always the same. I was told by a very reliable source that if you don't have one, the state might decide what to do with your house, bank account and any other assets like your car, especi

Paranoid or Prudent?
@phileight:
I would encourage you to do a bit of research on scandals yourself. I didn't go into great detail because of time and space. To address your point...you are at least partially correct...none of the scandals I mentioned were directly related to blocking numbers so no one would win. However...
1. In the Foreman scandal in Indiana the game was rigged so that friends of Mr. Foreman (a Hoosier Lottery Security Guard) would purchase the winning ticket. By default that means someb

$75M Texas Lotto jackpot claimed by business partnership
Pumpi,
First of all, I agree with the other comments that the LLC was probably created AFTER winning the lottery. It's jsut a guess, but I've seen this before. There are many ways of investing your money wisely and forming a Trust and/or LLC are 2 of them.
Deep inside for 1 year now i was praying deep inside of me for this to never happen
Second, what difference does it make who wins the lottery, as long as it is fair random? What you are saying is that only poor people can play.

Quik Pic observations from a new LP member...
So what you are saying is, if other pickers have the same tendencies, is that you will seed it falsely, or try to, before Joe Schmoe, (in other words maybe someone like moi) uses it, to prevent sharing jackpots or them benefitting from your chosen numbers if they turn out to be well founded in the draw?
What happens if you do that and it HELPS the other person out to win it, despite that not being your original intent? Obviously, most doing so would never know for sure.
Consider the GA tru

I am going to try to change the rules about annonymity...
Delaware offers corporations, too.
This is one of the things you learn living in Nevada - if a person takes out a safety deposit box at a bank, Uncle Sam can go into that box if they want to, for settling an estate or whatever.
If the same person forms a Navada corporation (or any) and takes out the box in the name of the coporation, only an 'officer' from the corporation (i.e., that person) can get into tha box.

The person is not an active member now......but someone listed here on LP as

N.J. Lottery players question logic of shutdown
It was done to bypass the Checks and Balances of Government.
The system of checks and balances is an important part of the Constitution. With checks and balances, each of the three branches of government can limit the powers of the others. This way, no one branch becomes too powerful. Each branch "checks" the power of the other branches to make sure that the power is balanced between them. How does this system of checks and balances work?
The process of how laws are made is a good example

California judge rules in favor of Mega Millions lottery
California Lottery officials announced Tuesday that the Sacramento Superior Court ruled that California's participation in the multi-state Mega Millions game is legal and that the California Lottery is authorized to operate the game in the state.
The court further stated that the Lottery Commission is lawfully operating and the Mega Millions' joint operation in California does not require specific legislative approval.
The ruling is a crushing blow to a small but vocal anti-lottery group,

Ky. Lottery Under Fire For Scratch-Off Tickets
The lady lawyer's contention in this lawsuit is clearly based on mixture of wishful thinking and poor reading comprehension. The ticket clearly states, Over 10 million dollars in cash prizes from $25 to $1,000 cash. That does not mean that all cash prizes are from $25 to $1000. If that were the case, they couldn't even pay the higher $5000, $10,000, and $25,000 prizes. It does not mean that there are no prizes less than $25. It simply means that over ten million dollars worth of the cash prize

Ky. Lottery Under Fire For Scratch-Off Tickets
I've recently discovered that a class-action suit is currently pending against the Hoosier Lottery for similar offenses (this has nothing to do with what LosingJeff and I are working on).
Apparently, the issue is that the expiration dates for their scratch-off games don't appear on the tickets, nor can this information be found on their website. The only place to find it is on Indiana's State Government website (so I'm told - I couldn't find it there, either), so you can imagine how often it'
