I'm leaning toward what Stack47 said on this one.
Casino jackpots (slots) are intentionally set up as to avoid being taxed (not the big jackpots, but such as non-progressive video poker). There is a formula or set of rules for each denomination machine, a 25 cent poker machine pays $1199 so as not to be taxed.
A dollar machine pays more but the amount where the jackpot would be taxed is higher.
Keno tickets have the same type of payout schedule. One of the biggest beefs I ever sazw wa

Not Happy With My QPs For Today's Treasure Hunt Jackpot
The skewing you describe seems very blatant. It could be a serious flaw in the RND, which wouldn't surprise me in the least. Ever watch a self-service terminal reboot? I have, and yikes! Lots of apparent software kludges appear to load during start up. Maybe it's secure, but it sure doesn't look like it.
More to the point, with all that software and hardware interacting, it's very possible the RND is faulty in some way. It's been an ongoing problem with many SSL programs on the web due to poo

Stopped back at Sheetz on my way home from my first job today, wanted to try
some of the new $20 ticket (Million Dollar Payout) but they didn't have any. Yesterday
the machine had two empty slots when I picked up my tickets... I figured that they would put
at least one if not two more rolls of the new $20 in. I find that it looks like they only put one in
and it was sold out already! So I decided to try another Million Dollar Supercash (last month's $20)
and see how it does.

Perhaps when payoff time vastly exceeds 'beyond the beyond' odds, its time for internal machine examination or it is really all operator purtpose ???

Las Vegas gamblers eye aging slot machine they expect to pay off millions
Forget Britney Spears and Cirque du Soleil. For many gamblers, the hottest attraction in Sin City is an outdated three-reel slot machine that hasn't produced a jackpot in nearly two decades.
It is called the Lion's Share, and in this city wit

Wondering if I should go back to buying scratchers?
...scrathers [sic] are the same as slots in a casino.
This is a common misconception.
Actually, to use the casino analogy, scratch games have more in common with table card games, and traditional lottery number games are more like slots or roulette.
With traditional number/lotto games, you are trying to predict the randomness of the computer or mechanical random number generator. You only have the illusion of control, trying to gain an advantage from randomness. Like a slot machine or r

Greetings BBH,
You have posed an interesting circumstance worth exploriing being conversant with the game of roulette I humbly hope I can make a candid contribution to this otherwise lonely thread LOL
If the true odds and payoffs are as you suggested, the house edge for the lottery is stupendous ranging from about 10% to 67%. Not even the worse slot machines have a house edge more than about 40%, so an argument could even be made that you are probably better off playing the slots than play

Is There Any Way To Predict Pick-5? Past Performance is "Gamblers Fallacy"
Yesterday.. after mowing my lawn.. I was sitting around the garage when my neighbor (who is a college math teacher) came over, and we had an hour-long discussion (well, OK, an argument) concerning the above topic.
Obviously.. he is way more knowledgeable about math than I am. (I barely passed Algebra-101).
He says that no matter what... in picking lottery numbers, the (P) probability always remains at .5 or 50/50. For instance.. say you toss a coin... the (P) is .5 that it will come up hea

Poll: Jinxing yourself?
Delta Draw,
Games change, yes....there's a rule in casinos if something comes up that hasn't happened before, and the rule is, If it's to the advantage of the house it's OK.
Can a shooter on a dice table who is shooting from the Don't pick up his bet before the point is made or a 7-Out? In some Vegas casinos they will let them, once. The reasoning is since they were on the Don't and got past the come out roll, sure let them pick up their bet.

Lucky player at N.D. casino doesn't want to put employees out of a job
Orville Erickson could hardly believe it but his wife, Dorothea, says she just had a feeling it might be a lucky weekend.
Orville Erickson hit a $2.98 million jackpot on a nickel slot machine Saturday at the Dakota Magic Casino near Hankinson. Slots manager Darrell Mireau said it was the largest jackpot in the casino's 11-year history.
I still can't hardly believe it, Orville Erickson, 63, said Monday from the
