CA Lottery - California Love - CA Lottery Scratchers
What's kind of a side story is when you look where that girl lives and the type of money she just threw at scratchers game, she was closer to being broke and on welfare than winning which is the story with a lot of people playing these games. It's a dream, yes but most logical people in her situation would have probably kept the $5k which is more than she makes in probably 5 months than running back out and dropping another $100 on Scratchers. I wonder how long it will take her to blow through t

Nice job with the Ultimate Riches; I loathe that ticket. Weird how that happens with the one and done. Monday night, I bought five $10 crosswords with four duds and the fifth being for $20. Used half of that to buy just one $10 Taxes Paid and won $100 (Win All $5 X 20). Oddly enough, all of my biggest scratcher wins going up to $1,000 have been single ticket purchases.

That's what I do! I learned that when I won big in 2011... I had a big black trash bag full of lovers that I was able to file on my taxes as a deduction! Even counted my lotto cash 3 and play 4 tickets!

CA Lottery - California Love - CA Lottery Scratchers
Weird occurrence this past Saturday. Went to three separate locations around L.A. and spent $20 on lottery products at each location (Vons in Pasadena, L.A. Live lotto booth at Kings game and Valero gas station in East L.A.). Each of those purchases had the exact same result with one $50 ticket winner for each separate trip (1 Ultimate Riches, 4 Hit $500 and 2 $10 Taxes Paid, respectively). $150 return on $60 spent is not terrible by any stretch, but it just goes to show the difficulty of gettin

Georgia Lottery Scratch Offs
I've been sober so to speak but that's because I have no spare money at the moment to use on lottery tickets here or in Georgia. Although I just filed my taxes a little over a week ago and I expect my refund any day now. I just may take a trip over the border to get a pack of the Max the Money tickets. Looks like it has good odds, especially for $500.

Congrats on the win. Looks like you are on a roll. The lotto district office is going to issue you a W-2G for your $1K win. If you itemize your deductions, you will be able to deduct gambling/lotto ticket losses up to the amount of your reported gambling/lotto winnings. Otherwise, you will have to pay taxes on the winnings when you file your tax return.

So I received my check from state, and it was for the full 5K. Was that due to no state taxes on lotto winning and I won on a scratcher?

Great win, lottoguy. Sucks about the taxes, but that's country in which we live. I'm still waiting for my big break on the lotto (started playing in 1999 and never won more than $200 on a Scratcher--and that took nine years).

Do you think that $20 and $30 scratch offs should have 1 in 2 overall odds?
Is it bad to be at least break even? What you do not understand that the government gets money from lottery in 2 ways, even when you win you pay taxes. That is after the government took its share.
