California Scratch Offs
Hi Fun, it's been a heck of a week so just playing catch up...but WOW, OFF THE CHAIN win there with the $10 Bonus Blast game. Heck I don't think you've showed that game yet!?? Either way amazing win!! You mentioned taxes...does CA hit you up for state taxes too? In FL we have Federal but no state. Either way hope to see you nail more big ones like this one (again, would have sent my congrats earlier, was just jammed).

Florida Scratch Offs - Post Pictures if posible
On a 600+ win (never one more than 500), can you have them automatically take the applicable taxes out of the amount received (eg so you don't have to worry about the taxes at the end of the year) ?

Even more ridiculous is I had to pay IRS over $20K in taxes last week. Jeez the state could build a high school with my donations to the lottery and I still owe taxes. I think that is unfair...... The should give a tax break on lottery losses

NEW YORK Instant scratch off tickets
The Cadiliac game doesn't make much sense for me at least, not living in NYC. 4 top prizes of 500k and a CTS. I assume you have to pay taxes on the car, I know you have to pay taxes on the 500K. Then there is the expense of owning a car in NYC, gas, cameras, the threat of theft etc.

Post your scratch ticket results
its the same way in florida, anothing over 600 you have to go the a district office and redeem, however they do not with hold any taxes at that point, they give you a form to use when filing income tax. Anything above 5k, they take taxes out on the spot. I hit 10k which seems like a lot, but when I redeemed it they with held 25 percent on the spot, so I walked out with 7500.

Scratch offs as a tax write off?
Question that hopefully someone here can answer! I won $5k on a scratch off about 3 months ago and don't have to pay taxes til I filed for my income taxes..someone told me I can save all my loser as a tax write off and they won't take as much out from my winnings. Anyone do this or know how much I will get for each ticket? Thanks!

TN players beware...
Payed out over 25 years, it's on back of ticket, if you pay taxes on it you would get 40,000 if they hold out taxes you would get 30,000 a year for 25 years.

Won Nj Scratch Off But Taxes?
Wow thats like 75% out of the 500k ... so the final check is after all taxes (federal, income) so you just deposit it and thats it.. taxes paid for that year?

Lottery Prizes
Would definitely take the cash. Worked with a guy who was on that Wheel show with Vanna White back in the 90's. He was the jackpot winner for the show (I believe this was before they were making large cash prizes available) and told me that he had to pay taxes on his show winnings and the amounts were all inflated for the merchandise he got--said it was the most expensive vacation to CA he had ever taken due to the taxes.
