Lottery Prizes
I never buy scratchers with prizes cuz I'd rather have the cash. With prizes you gotta come up with money to pay the taxes. Since I probably wouldn't have the money for taxes, I'd end up selling the prize. I'd still come out with some $$$ in the bank, but it's so much easier just to win the $$$ in the first place.

Georgia Lottery Scratch Offs
Wow they actually brought out another $30 ticket. They must have made good money on it last year. The odds on it are worse, but the odds are better to win $500 on the new one. $10 Lady Luck 7 looks terrible! Why are they bringing out $10 tickets with odds like this? With that being said I'm sure I'll try it once or twice like I did Cash King lol. The $2 Taxes Paid and $5 Taxes Paid tickets seem fine. I'll definitely try the $5 Taxes Paid soon.

CA Lottery - California Love - CA Lottery Scratchers
There are no state taxes for gambling winnings here in California. Only federal taxes, be sure to file this as part of your tax return although nothing was withheld. The state treasury will have reported this winning to the IRS, and the IRS is keeping track of everything these days to squeeze every single dollar they can get get out of people. If they prove you owe taxes and you did not report something, they will automatically include interest as well.

Taxes on Prize Winnings
Any prize less than about $600 (varies slightly by state) can be claimed at any lottery retailer. They do not hold back any taxes when you claim your prize for less than $600. Technically, you're supposed to claim such prizes on your taxes at the end of the year, but I doubt many people do that, because nobody really knows they won anything. If you do have some significant prizes to claim on your taxes at the end of the year, you can offset whatever amount you spent on tickets (winning or los

I bought an entire book of $20 GA tickets - $3,000,000 Taxes Paid
As many of you have read, I HAD come to the conclusion that the lottery was in fact random, but now I am forced to eat my own words. I am currently in the process of reading this story on LP: https://www.lotterypost.com/news/227079, in which a statistician supposedly breaks the code to scratch offs. Given I have not finished reading it, it is very interesting so far. One FACT that we all tend to overlook is that the scratch lottery CANNOT truly be random, it only appears that way. The lottery MU

What denomination would you pick if you were to buy a whole pack of scratch off tickets?
Well, my latest experience is I bought 15 $2 tickets: $25,000 Taxes Paid Scratcher tickets here in CA. I picked this game because it was a $2 ticket and I felt comfortable spending $30, and the $25K Taxes Paid jackpot was the biggest $2 ticket jackpot. The others were $20K, with one $21K ticket, and taxes were not paid for these smaller jackpot games. Oh, there is a $2 game with a $1000 For Life jackpot, which is a relatively big jackpot to be sure ($1.3M before taxes IIRC) but my experience wit

Does anyone know how to claim losses with scratchers after winning a big prize like 100k and having to pay taxes on it?

I have been winning very big on scratchers for a year. I have a question
I know that sounds crazy. But in my state they came out with a new scratch game that's easy to beat. I have winnings of over $50,000 in a year. That's 50,000 more than I spent. It's all $500 winners. Do I owe taxes ? I never got a winner over $500 at 1 time. Do I owe taxes. I'm being serious here. Thank you in advance

I think only if you already owe back taxes it would be a problem. But I'm not a tax attorney.....so who knows.
