That all depends of the taxes I am thinking. If I were to hit that much I would be happy. Let anyone deal with taxes taken out and try to enjoy it.

Why Would Anyone In Their Right Mind Choose Annuity instead of Cash Payout for Powerball?
I am inclined to go with annuity with guarantied a steady income stream, and can help reduce taxes. The only catch if you die along the way the federal tax is due on the balance of remaining lump sum. But the IRS will be amenable to your heir will still collect the annuity with extra taxes called penalty.

New York Lotto
YP I was thinking the same thing the jackpot is only $2 million dollars so sales are not going to be good for the few following weeks, until the nest egg is bigger. I mean any amount of money is a blessing but $2 million after taxes is going to leave you in the hundred thousands. I believe NY state and federal taxes will stay with one million.

Why do you play lotteries?
Yes, they need more winners at say 20 to may-be 40 million dollars. Reading some of the post here for years at lp, I think some people really don't have a clue how much 20 to 40 million is as far as life changing. If a person was making $100,000/year with taxes taken out vs. a person making $100,000 with no taxes taken out, that might be life changing for some. Pb needs to change the game to have more millionaires, a not the promise of a very high jackpot that will go to one person.

Why do you play lotteries?
I now just play to be in the game with no excitement what so ever. Lottery has gotten so boring and now it will take forever for someone in the same locations to win the jackpot. I would be happy if the lottery had more jackpot winners of say 20 to 30 million cash before taxes. (30,000,000 may-be 15,000,000 after taxes) Again, I'm playing to just say that I'm in the game.

How many tickets do you buy?
I have no doubt that you remember this, since you are almost certainly senile. Either that, having never availed yourself of the distress of getting an education - after all education is often paid for by (gasp) taxes and you certainly wouldn't want to poison your purity with something like that - you are completely ignorant of history. Your pal Bushie, also an intellectual lightweight, actually reduced taxes to the lowest level in modern history. This of course, allowed his unregulated pals

Ohio Lottery website taking a survey of possible MM changes.
The Ohio Lottery would withhold $250,000 in federal taxes and another $60,000 in Ohio State taxes. The survey also asked opinions on paying it $50,000 a year for 20 years.

EuroMillions at 130 million Euro's
I live in Ohio, and your state may be different, but here's what I do to figure out how much I would get after the cash option and taxes: -simply calculate 40% of the jackpot. -in other words, 10% of the jackpot times four is what I do. So $500M is $50M (ten percent) times four=$200M after cash and taxes. The cash option of the MM jackpot is just about exactly 60% of the jackpot; federal taxes on the remaining JP are 25%; Ohio State tax is 5.75%. Local taxes are negligible.

selling a winning ticket
if you won a smaller prize, let's say a powerball ticket worth $200,000.00 or even $10,000.00 and you owed back taxes. The IRS would settle up with your winnings. But if you could find a buyer for your ticket, you could probably get some of that cash in hand and put the IRS on hold a little longer through smaller payments or whatever. Just a thought if someone owed back taxes and wanted to reap something from their winning ticket without the IRS taking it all.
