NY man dies weeks after winning $1 million lottery jackpot
Earlier this month, Donald Savastano won a $1 million New York Lottery scratch-off game and he was making plans.
Being a self-employed carpenter, I didn't really have a plan for retirement, Savastano told the New York Lottery in an interview. The money will help with that.... I'll buy a new truck, pay off some debt and invest for the future.
Just three weeks after he won, Savastano, 51, who grew up on Long Island, died of cancer.
Savastano recently had been diagnosed with stage 4 canc

What's old is new again.
Ripping a page from the 1980s, the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL) is starting a new game on Sunday called Lotto America the original name of what is now known as Powerball.
The throwback name is probably a good idea, since the new game has the difficult task of helping people forget the tumultuous ending to Hot Lotto, the game it replaces.

Pennsylvania eyes leap to internet for casinos, lottery
Facing huge deficits, Pennsylvania could become the first state to allow both its casinos and lottery to take its games online in a quest for money from new and younger players.
The state government has a slew of fiscal challenges, made worse by sluggish tax collections and one of the nation's oldest average populations.
A Republican-controlled Legislature trying to avoid a broad tax increase under Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf has instead turned over other rocks in search of alternatives. Ther

Texas statute already allows winners to have 'minimal publicity'
The concerns of a border resident who hopes to win the lottery someday has led to a bill now being considered by lawmakers that would allow the Texas lottery's biggest winners to remain anonymous.
On Monday, the House Licensing and Administrative Procedures Committee considered House Bill 59 by state Rep. Ryan Guillen, D-Rio Grande City, which would let winners of $1 million or more remain anonymous. It would not allow winner

The new high-water mark of $349 million for the current Powerball jackpot was achieved after no winning tickets were sold for Wednesday night's $317 million grand prize.

Massachusetts lawmakers renew push for online lottery sales
If Massachusetts lawmakers pass a plan backed by State Treasurer Deborah Goldberg, the state lottery could be coming to phones and computers across the Commonwealth.
After falling short in the last legislative session, proponents of expanding the state lottery into the digital world are renewing their push.
I had to come around to this thinking because I myself hadn't thought about online lottery games, but I saw the way millennials are operating is really online, Goldberg said. This past
