Powerball sales drop busts NJ Lottery's 7-year winning streak
Lottery sales in New Jersey fell for the first in seven years in 2017 led by a sharp by decline in revenue from Powerball tickets, though scratch-off games remain the state's biggest money maker, according to the New Jersey Lottery's annual report. Carole Hedinger, New Jersey Lottery executive director, has announced her retirement, which was effective December 31, 2017. Hedinger began her lottery career as deputy executive director of the New Jersey Lottery in 1994. Lottery winner accused of child sex assault freed from jail
A New Jersey man who won a $338 million Powerball lottery jackpot will be freed from jail while he awaits trial on charges he sexually assaulted a child. A judge issued the ruling Monday during a detention hearing for 49-year-old Pedro Quezada. Quezada will be electronically monitored and confined to his home except when traveling to see his lawyer and his financial adviser. He was charged last week with sexual assault and child endangerment. His lawyer has said he's being targeted.
