Turmoil: Connecticut Lottery interim CEO quits
Frank Farricker, the Connecticut Lottery Corp.'s board chairman and interim CEO, resigned from both unpaid but influential positions Monday after drawing heavy criticism during a legislative inquiry into lottery officials' handling of the fraud-plagued 5 Card Cash lottery game.
Saying that he hopes to help the lottery agency by ceasing any further distractions, Farricker wrote to the quasi-public agency's general counsel, Matthew Stone, and said he was quitting immediately.

New Mexico House committee endorses changes in lottery operations
Financial bonuses for state lottery officials and contractors would be tied to increases in scholarship money available to New Mexico college students under a bill that got unanimous bipartisan approval from a House committee Monday.
House Bill 250, sponsored by Rep. Jason Harper, R-Rio Rancho, also would require the state lottery to transfer money from unclaimed cash prizes usually $2 million to $4 million a year to the lottery scholarships fund.

One benefit of a state lottery is that as North Carolinians win the lottery, their prize money is subject to the collection of any debts owed to state and local governments.

Oregon Gov. appoints new lottery director
Barry Pack is now the official nominee for director of the Oregon Lottery.
Gov. Kate Brown announced Friday she has nominated Pack to head the agency, pending Senate confirmation.
Pack has served as acting director of the Lottery since Brown fired former Director Jack Roberts in April, citing management problems. Pack previously served as director of the Department of Administrative Services. He also was an aide to Brown when she was secretary of state and a state senator.

Vermont Lottery Director resigns
The Vermont Lottery Commission (VLC) announced today the resignation of Executive Director, Greg Smith, effective October 14th. Smith is pursuing another opportunity after running Vermont's Lottery for over four years.

SC Lottery director stepping down
Paula Harper Bethea is stepping down as executive director of the South Carolina Education Lottery.
Bethea, of Bluffton, was an original member of the lottery commission when it was formed in 2001. She has served as director since 2009.
The resignation will be effective Oct. 31.

CT Lottery chief departs after nine years
Anne M. Noble, president and CEO of the Connecticut Lottery Corp. for the last nine years, resigned Tuesday, saying, I've really done what I set out to do when I was hired by this board in 2008.

Longtime Kentucky Lottery director dies following fall
Arthur L. Arch Gleason, the longtime head of the Kentucky Lottery Corp. died on Friday following a fall in Cincinnati.
Gleason, who was 69, had just announced his retirement three weeks ago after nearly 23 years as president of the Kentucky Lottery. He was the longest-serving lottery head in the nation.
