A Washington, D.C. woman who enlisted the help of local media to try and claim a faulty Virginia Lottery scratch-off ticket actually tried to claim a second lottery ticket of the same exact game that she admitted was a forgery.
Lottery Post reported Wednesday morning that Ardella Newman of Washington, D.C. is taking the Virginia Lottery to task for denying her claim of a scratch-off ticket that she claims is worth $20,000. The Virginia Lottery had issued a statement that t

A Washington, D.C. woman is taking on the Virginia Lottery after she bought a winning ticket worth $20,000 but is not getting the money. The lottery said the ticket was issued in error.
When I saw that $20,000, you don't know how excited I was, said Ardella Newman.
On Aug. 22, at a lottery machine inside Shoppers in Alexandria, Newman thought she hit it big. On a $2 scratch-off ticket she matched the number 16 for $20,000.
$20,000 could really, really help me,

Kentucky Lottery and legislature tussle over cash reserves
Straining to find hidden money within state government's bureaucracy to balance a tight state budget two years ago, the Kentucky Senate discovered about $16.9 million in unrestricted reserves held by the Kentucky Lottery Corp.
Senators concluded the lottery didn't need that much in reserve and put into the budget bill a directive that in addition to the normal flow of dividends the lottery sends to the state the lottery transfer $11 million to the general fund by June 30.
But, in a rare de

A Queens, New York, man claims one of his best friends is bilking him out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, after improbably striking the jackpot on a lottery ticket the two had agreed to split and refusing to share the million dollar bounty.
Terry Hollenquest, 52, a barber and business consultant, alleges that he and his neighbor and longtime buddy Leonard (John) Owens hatched the get-rich plan a year ago.
The two men would play the lotto every day, under the agreement that if either s

A group of people who sued a Melbourne, Australia, co-worker after he allegedly failed to distribute the winnings of a AU$16.6 million (US$12.3 million) lottery pool ticket have reportedly struck a deal with him.
However that deal may not include an agreement to share the jackpot with the members of his lotto pool.
The Geelong man is accused of keeping the big win to himself, cheating the other members of the pool out of their share of the $16.6 million group draw last October.

Florida Supreme Court orders new trial in $1M lottery dispute
Howard Browning is a guy who does not give up.
In 2008, he sued his live-in sweetheart, a Seminole County schoolteacher, after she refused to give him half of the $1 million lottery jackpot she won.
They had a deal, he insisted, although it was unwritten: If he won the lottery, he'd give her half and if she won, she'd give him half.
A judge in Sanford threw out his case in 2012 after a jury had begun to hear evidence, and an appeals court later agreed. But on Thursday, the Florida Supre

The syndicate, a group of 14 Geelong workers, believe the man was one of three winners of a $50 million d

Jury rules that estranged brothers must split $1M lottery prize
Over a year of legal bickering ended Wednesday afternoon, but it appeared neither brother feuding over a jackpot lottery ticket was ready to move on and sing Kumbaya together.
After a two-day trial in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, court, a jury decided two Mechanicsburg-area brothers, Charles Thomas Meehan and Ira Sharp, would split a $1 million lottery ticket straight down the middle.
Sharp sued Meehan, his half-brother, for half of the prize he said they won together at Johnny Joe's b
