Mass. Lottery ads still on radio two days after Cahill agreed to a halt
Radio spots from a million-dollar advertising blitz for the Massachusetts Lottery continued to run yesterday, two days after state Treasurer Timothy P. Cahill, an independent gubernatorial candidate, said he would stop airing the taxpayer funded advertisements.
A spokesman for the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission said the ads would cease by last night, adding that the process for killing a major ad campaign took some time. The lottery said the ads could not have been stopped immediately

Mass. Lottery ad creates election controversy

MasterCard illegally adds fees to Lottery players
All you need is a dollar and a dream to play the Lottery, except if you're paying with MasterCard then it's an extra 10 bucks.
Plus interest.
The credit card company has quietly been treating subscription purchases of Lotto or Mega Millions tickets as cash advances making them subject to an extra fee.
MasterCard is also charging higher cash advance level interest on the Lottery ticket purchases, as much as 24.9% percent in some cases.
That, too, is a no-no, Lottery officials said.

Remains are that of missing lottery winner
Cause of death not yet determined
A body found Thursday in Plant City is that of missing Florida Lottery winner Abraham Shakespeare of Lakeland, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office confirmed yesterday.
The body was identified through fingerprints, said Debbie Carter, Hillsborough County Sheriff spokeswoman.

Police: Fla. Lotto winner buried under concrete
Human remains found buried under recently added concrete at a home in Plant City, Florida, are likely those of missing lottery millionaire Abraham Shakespeare, police said Thursday.
Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee said the body was slowly being uncovered. They are awaiting positive identification.
However, Gee said their investigation and information specifically led them to the area after they began to believe he might be dead because of sinister means and motives.

Lawmakers to mediate spat over Iowa Lottery security
Relations have become so strained between feuding directors of two state agencies that a couple of Iowa lawmakers have agreed to step in as mediators.
