Anniversary: N.D. Lottery reflects back on last four years
Four years ago today, North Dakota launched it's own lottery.
At the time only Powerball was available for purchase in the state. Since then, three new games have been added.
Each one of the North Dakota Lottery's games are run by the Multi-State Lottery Association (MUSL), which is famous for creating the first nation-wide multi-state lottery game, Powerball (formerly Lotto America). The North Dakota Lottery does not conduct any of the drawings itself.
It's estimated by June 13th of

NY Lottery says it goofed: Mahopac winner got $31 million after taxes
The New York State Lottery has acknowledged that it made a $14 million mistake when it announced the amount of last week's Mega Millions award to a Putnam County man at Grand Central Terminal.
The winning ticket bought by William James Albertson from Mahopac actually brought him an after-tax prize of $30.7 million. At the big announcement, presided over by Lottery Director Gordon Medenica and Lottery announcers Yolanda Vega and Ralph Buckley, Lottery staff told reporters that Albertson would

Lotto fever isn't what it used to be
Sure, there was a buzz Tuesday. Sure, people dreamed. Sure, people blacked out their favorite numbers birthdays and anniversaries hoping for luck to strike.
The chance to win a cool $250 million, though, didn't seem to draw the crazed stampede of wannabe Trumps that it has in the past. In 1984, a then-record $40 million jackpot in Illinois actually caused people to fly in from overseas to take a stab at it.
For some, huge jackpots such as the one offered by the Mega Millions lottery in

Lottery winner goes from rags to riches to rags
For David Lee Edwards, winning the lottery was a wild rocket ride
In the fall of 2006, David Lee Edwards and his wife, Shawna, decorated their front door for Halloween. But if trick-or-treaters made it to the couple's home, a storage unit in Riviera Beach, no plastic ghost was as scary as what they'd have found inside: two pale, withered junkies from Kentucky living amid dirty clothes, rotting food, and their own filth.
And these were lottery winners.
Today, with David on what could be

'American states' are in talks to participate in the Christmastime mega-draw
Camelot, the operator of the UK National Lottery, is poised to launch a worldwide draw with a record jackpot of about 250m (US $500 million), now that it apparently won a new 10-year license this week.
The company was named on Tuesday as the preferred bidder for a license to run from 2009, after fending off a bid from Sugal Damani, an Indian rival.

$25M question: Who is credible?
Once upon a time there were 21 co-workers who liked and trusted each other well enough to pool their money for the New Jersey Lottery.
They didn't win much.
Then the pool manager announced that he had a cousin who had won a $25 million Lottery jackpot. His co-workers suspected that the pair had won with their money. Furious, they sued.
Yesterday all the parties squared off in a Bergen County courtroom, where Superior Court Judge Marguerite Simon must decide who gets the $25 million from
