South Dakota lottery player starts off 2019 with massive lifetime win
The South Dakota Lottery's latest big winner will ring in the new year with the prize of $1,000 a day for the rest of his or her life.
Monday's Lucky For Life drawing resulted in South Dakota's first top prize winner in the game. The ticket was sold at Ken's Fairway, located at 2105 6th Ave., SE in Aberdeen. The winning numbers were 4, 10, 15, 19, and 43, with Lucky Ball number 8.

Rush of Mega Millions lottery sales prompts surprise jackpot increase
$370 million jackpot is the game's 12th-largest

Lottery officials announced today that the jackpot for Friday's Mega Millions drawing has been raised from $348 million to $370 million, as a result of rapid sales.
The Mega Millions jackpot has grown since Oct. 26 and has rolled 18 times.

Investigation finds lottery scamming Tipton brothers have repaid virtually nothing

Two brothers who spearheaded the biggest lottery scam in U.S. history have repaid less than $1,400 in restitution despite owning property worth nearly $2 million, a Des Moines Register and Corpus Christi Caller Times investigation has found.
Between them, Eddie and Tommy Tipton have admitted rigging winning drawings in at least five states, including Iowa, worth a combined $24 million.

$1 million Maryland Mega Millions lottery ticket expired Christmas Eve

Someone could have had a few extra presents under the tree this year, had they checked their Mega Millions lottery ticket before Christmas.
A $1 million prize that was won in a June Mega Millions drawing went unclaimed, the Maryland Lottery confirmed on Monday.

Woman's winning lottery ticket rescued from trash by brother
A Montana woman said a $50,000 winning lottery ticket she intended to throw away was rescued by her brother.
Virginia Busko-Gewald told Montana Lottery officials she was inspired by her brother's lottery-playing hobby to pick up a lottery ticket at the Great Falls Albertsons. Even though her brother plays regularly, she didn't even know what game to play, so she bought the first game the clerk recommended: Powerball.

A Powerball winner in Iowa this week donated $500,000 of her prize to a group supporting disabled veterans.
