Oklahoma Lottery announces new Pick 5-style game
Oklahoma lottery officials announced a new game will start that's similar to Powerball , although the game appears to have much more in common with Pick 5-style games. The game requires players to match five numbered balls and those that do will win $35,211, or $25,000 after taxes. Oklahoma bans some businesses from selling lottery tickets
A bill to prohibit pawn shops, payday lenders and check-cashing businesses from selling Oklahoma lottery tickets has won final legislative approval. The bill by Senator Kathleen Wilcoxson passed the Senate yesterday and now goes to the governor. The state Lottery Commission voted last year to prohibit those businesses from selling lottery tickets but Wilcoxson says the law will prevent future Lottery Commissions from reversing the decision. Winners of up to five-thousand dollars in the Oklahoma Lottery will be able to cash in their tickets at some Homeland grocery stores beginning today. Police warn of foreign lottery scheme
A new twist on an old scam has bilked some Enid, Oklahoma, residents out of $2,500 to $8,500, police said. Enid Police Department Detective Mike Riley said he's received three or four calls a day for the last couple of weeks concerning this particular scam. Some are notified by mail they have won a foreign lottery, such as the Australian, Canadian, Portuguese or United Kingdom lotteries, and are told someone will stop by to collect money to cover insurance and handling costs, Riley said. Ardmore Powerball Lottery Ticket Worth $667,142
A ticket bought in Ardmore, Oklahoma is worth $667,142 from the record Powerball drawing, Oklahoma Lottery officials say. It will be the largest payout since the Oklahoma Lottery started in October. The Oklahoma ticket is one of 39 tickets nationally that are worth $200,000 each. However, because of the new Match 5 Bonus, each of the 39 tickets are worth an additional $467,142.
