N.C. Woman Still Waiting For Lottery Payout
Gertrude Hill writes out checks to pay bills, but like most of us, she could use a little extra money to help pay. Hill thought she'd gotten extra money in March when she won the N.C. Education Lottery for $500. She went back to the Sam's Mart in the University area where she'd purchased the ticket to redeem it. (The clerk) took the ticket and he scanned and he said, 'I don't have that much money,' Hill said. The clerk told her to take the ticket to a grocery store chain that they wou ...

S.C. Lottery Stops Selling Number "666"
The South Carolina Educational Lottery has stopped selling tickets Tuesday with combiations with 666 in it. That means no more 6-6-6, 6-6-0-6, and 6-6-6-6. Tuesday is of course June 6, 2006 or 06/06/06, if you're so inclined. And apparently, a lot of people are. Lottery officials say they've reached their liability on selling the above numbers, meaning they wouldn't be able to pay out all the winners if those numbers should be drawn. The lottery says they have a $3.5 million cap on P ...

Lottery fever is alive and well in New Jersey
They call themselves the Coolers, based on the 2003 Las Vegas thriller The Cooler, starring William Macy. He plays a character who is hired in old-school casinos to subdue high rollers' action, until he falls in love. Unlike the movie, this group has not encountered Lady Luck and has yet to pinpoint its cooler. But that doesn't stop them from continuing their 15-year tradition of Thursday lottery lunches. It's no coincidence that Thursday just happens to be when the Pick 6 is drawn. ...
