N.J. Lottery sets record for lottery ticket sales
The slumping economy seemingly hasn't stopped lottery players in New Jersey who want to cash in on their dreams.
The state lottery raised more money in ticket sales in the fiscal year ending June 30 than ever before in its 40-year history a record $2.6 billion despite a recession that has seen people's discretionary spending drop in other areas.
Regular customers at the 7-Eleven on Route 9 in Northfield said the state can thank them for their generosity in the last year.

N.C. Lottery notches record $1.42 billion in sales
Hopeful gamblers in New Hanover County spent more than $31.3 million on N.C. lottery games in the past year, about $161 per county resident or $361 per household, according to a StarNews analysis of lottery data.
Residents and visitors to New Hanover County spent slightly more cash on the lottery than they did on liquor at county ABC stores between July 1, 2009, and June 30. Liquor sales in the county totaled roughly $30.5 million during that time.

Maryland Lottery achieves 13th straight year of record sales
Despite a challenging economy and two paralyzing snow stormsthat buried large parts of the state, the Maryland Lottery tallied more than $1.706 billion in sales in Fiscal Year 2010, breaking its sales record for the 13th year in a row.

Lottery ticket worth $12.5M sold in N.H.
The New Hampshire Lottery says someone bought a Tri-State Megabucks Plus lottery ticket worth $12.5 million.
The lottery agency says the jackpot is the biggest for a single ticket in the game's 25-year history. The jackpot hit $16.4 million in January 1992, but there were two winning tickets.

The Ohio Lottery says it's on a roll, with the introduction of Powerball helping the agency post another year of record sales.

Canadians will have a shot at the country's largest-ever lottery prize total this Friday $70 million.

The New York Lottery posted record revenue and profit in its latest fiscal year, the state announced on Thursday.
The lottery made $7.8 billion in sales of scratch-off tickets, other games and casino gambling in its 2009-10 fiscal year, which ended March 31. It is a 2.1 percent increase over the previous year, which was the old record-high.
