A St. John's lottery player may have saved a dozen dollars while cancelling an overcharged lottery ticket, but missed out on a $30 million jackpot.

Record $95M Lotto Max lottery jackpot drawing tonight
Combined super-prize is Canada's largest ever
The largest lottery prize pool in Canadian history will be up for grabs in Friday night's Lotto Max draw.
The $95 million that could be won includes a jackpot of $50 million. In addition, there will be 45 separate MaxMillions draws for prizes of $1 million each.
A Lotto Max ticket gives the buyer a chance to win the jackpot or any of the MaxMillions prizes.

Largest lottery prize in Canadian history hits $70M mark
Canadians will have a shot at the country's largest-ever lottery prize total this Friday $70 million.
There was no winner in last Friday's Lotto Max draw, so the jackpot remains at the maximum of $50 million.
Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. spokeswoman Sarah Kiriliuk says it will be the fourth time that amount is being offered as a jackpot.
