N.C. store clerk charged in lottery scam
Police arrested a convenience store clerk Thursday after she allegedly told a customer his ticket wasn't a winner, then cashed the $50 winning ticket after the man left the store.
Kathleen Patricia McClusky, 19, of Clayton, was charged with obtaining property by false pretenses. She was working as a clerk at the Kangaroo Station on U.S. 70 in Clayton.

The owner of a Syracuse, New York, convenience store was arrested this week on charges of conspiring with his son to steal a $5 million lottery ticket from a man who'd bought it at the store.

A suspect charged with the armed home invasion and robbery of a couple who had just returned from their honeymoon won $1 million in the Massachusetts Lottery in 2007.
Rashad Blount, 26, formerly of Middleboro and now of Dorchester, won the $1 million grand prize in the Lottery's $800 Million Spectacular instant game on Feb. 12, 2007.

Iowan gets probation for stealing lottery tickets
A former Kanawha, Iowa, convenience store worker has been given a deferred judgment after stealing lottery tickets from her employer.
Kimberly M. Bates, 40, Kanawha, pleaded guilty to second-degree theft, a Class D felony, in Hancock County District Court. Bates must serve three years probation and pay $1,039 in victim restitution.

Prize money awarded to rightful lottery ticket holder
The Tennessee Lottery on Tuesday presented a $200,000 Powerball prize to a Sumner County man whose winning ticket was allegedly stolen by two convenience store clerks earlier this year.
