An angry Russian woman from the small town in the Caucasus hired a criminal to kill her ex-husband who had won a million rubles in a lottery, the News.ru website reported Friday.

48-year-old retired military officer Alexei Rykov had bought just one lottery ticket as a present for his own birthday and the ticket proved to be lucky — the man won one million rubles (about $37,000). He used the money to buy an apartment (until then the family was renting) and a car.

After a while his wife Irina Rykova started to suspect the winner of hiding some of the money from her. The woman and her mother made Alexei's life so miserable that he decided to divorce. The divorce didn`t stop the woman, however, and she kept claiming the money.

The ex-wife even hired a man to extort money from Alexei, instructing the thug to kill him in case of refusal. Alexei turned to the police and the racketeer was detained while receiving marked money.

At the trial, the detained man denied any connections with former Mrs. Rykov and she acted at the trial only as a witness. Alexei Rykov said he did not want his ex-wife to be jailed. "Whatever she has done, she remains the mother of my children," he said.

This isn't about the Lottery (He didn't Win that much Money), it's about her (and her mother's) distrust of the man that she married. LOL!

What a good man. Not many would have forgiven her for what she did.

She may be the mother of his children, but what kind of example is she setting for those kids through her action. If I was him, I would not want my kids around her or the Grandmother for that matter. After setting an attempt on ones life who next, the kids? Bad choice on his part, should have taken the kids put her behind bars to think about her actions.

Why would any parent want there children around someone who displays hate and discontent for another.

I think the guy is pushing his luck.  By that I mean Alexei is probably lucky to be alive.

Yeah, she remains the mother of his children but what good is that if their father is dead.

Man! he needs someone to open his eyes.  I am sure the guy is still in danger.  What a moron, and this guy was an officer in the military.  Well, I guess it takes all kinds.

hey i think he gave up on life and wants to die  but is afraid to  commit suicide,  nobody in their normal mind lets a person who attempted to murder them off because he forgives them :because she is the mother of his kids, so now the kids will grow up thinking its ok to try to murder people, and when they get arrested they will say , mommy tried to murder daddy , and he forgave her, so why dont you forgive me,? and the grandmother should be ashamed of herself for encouraging  nonsense ,   you would think her mom was an axe murderer,? so what now , if  she dosent get the money now does she threaten him by driving the kids  into a lake ? , what is this guy thinking  of , well  he can hang out with me , i would have my sign with me all the time Agree with stupidso people would know who the smart one is ,,,,,,i think the body is home , and the brain is on strike,,,
